A Coyote Ate My Baby!

Location: Revelstoke Drive

This segment connects Revelstoke to Riverside as a way to come and go to McCarthy Woods and is mostly single track and a bit of old utility road. There is a very well travelled pathway system here and it's typical to run into dog walkers here.
I took my family for a little hike through here and along the route someone had put up posters asking people not to harass the coyotes living in the woods. I've seen coyotes along the canal in winter and last spring we had one run past our house on Cameron Avenue, so I guess they are out and about.

In any case, this is a sister segment to the Uphill Dog Walker Slalom as the climbs run parallel to each other and is the route I prefer coming and going to McCarthy Woods. I like the climb better as it's gravel instead of pavement and the route through the woods to the road at the top is more scenic. Also, less dog walkers for whatever reason.

I did however have my front tire slip on a tree-root coming through here and I ended up slamming into a tree and ripping my arm up a bit. Good reminder that even at less than 15kmph, impact is impact.

Anyway, this is an invaluable connecter to get you to and from the south of the city, so ride it, have fun and be careful.
