In the Central Experimental Farm just off McCooeye Lane, is this little climb that you can pretty much try to rip up anytime, because there's never really anyone on it and there are no obstacle's to navigate.

Ski Hill Skibabble

Location: Ski Hill Park, Gloucester off Ogilvie near Montreal Rd.
https://www.strava.com/segments/28736785

Is "Naskapi Ridge Park really a park, or is it 100 backyards? I don't know but it's fun as hell to ride and the drop down Ski Hill Park is a fast, straight shot, well, down an old ski hill I guess.

Listen to "I wish" by Skee-Lo and see if you can hear him say skip-skibabble. Then the segment name will make sense (Ski + Skibabble, clever yo?). In fact that song may have been on the charts when Frankenbike was new, so this delves super deep in terms of meaningful connections.

Jasmine Valley Wall

Location: Jasmine Crescent, Gloucester near Ogilvie

This doesn't look so hard on paper, with a net elevation decrease of -0.5% gradient, but I have yet to make it the entire way up the climb without unclipping and walking at least 1/3 of the hill at the end.....check out the map to find the secret valley from the Land Before Time.

Shreddy in OTT

Location: North-south between Carling and Byron

There's a corridor of green space that starts just a little northeast of the Carling Executive Park and runs north-south, or vice versa, between Carling and Byron. This segment covers a good portion of that.

I include it in an hour long loop I do some days after work. You can see that here, which will help identify where you can pick up the trail: https://veloviewer.com/routes/2836265595361473230

Who's Cooking Johnsonville Brats?

Location: Between Johnson and Hawthorne Road north of Hunt Club

Although not a destination in of itself, this backyard bonanza is a handy connector that takes you from the hydro roads that run along Walkley, as well as the Alta Vista green-space corridor and gets you to Hawthorne, which is relatively close to the trail heads of a number of the Pine Grove Greenbelt trails. I often cut through the industrial park via Belgreen to get to Ramsayville Road at Russell Road to pick up the trail there, as per this route (although I rode this in reverse): https://www.strava.com/routes/2834134702407759590

High Voltage!

Location: Hydro Road between Conroy and Albion
www.strava.com/segments/13757345

Running parallel to Walkley from Conroy to Albion, this segment of Hydro road is handy for connecting to a variety of routes. Here are a couple of examples:
www.strava.com/routes/2834134702407759590
www.strava.com/routes/2804911774536107280

It's essentially a pair of gravel tire tracks with almost no elevation change and zig-zags ever so mildly. In high summer when the grass is high, you have to point your bike at the tracks and just go with it, because you can really only see a few feet in front of you. At the Albion end they do mow it occasionally and it's wide and open.

There used to be a gate at the Conroy end with a no-dumping sign, but its down right now. Either way, this is part of the Hydro corridor that has multiple sections that have soccer fields and pathways that runs pretty much from the Queensway at Walkley and ends at South Keys, before it picks up again at McCarthy Woods.

island Park heading to Gov Land Single Track

Location: Island Park at Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway
https://www.strava.com/segments/7264271

Colonel Atilla Altikat was on his way to work on August 27th, 1982 when he stopped at a red light on Island Park at the river parkway. He was killed by an Armenian guerrilla, who fired nine shots into his car. Despite this being one of several violent incidents related to ongoing conflicts between Armenians and Turks that spilled over into Canada,  to this day Altikat remains the only foreign diplomat assassinated on Canadian soil. There is a monument to Colonel Altikat near where he was shot that you may have seen, as it is very large and very distinct.

Location: Aviation/Sir George-Etienne Cartier Parkway near the Aviation Museum
https://www.strava.com/segments/28093477

I got a bit lost in the Rockcliffe Air Force Base area recently and ended up riding down this segment and found myself sort of in the middle of the on-ramp that goes from the Aviation Parkway to the Sir George-Etienne Cartier Parkway. I was out of time that day, but made it a point to return to ride up it.

The area that used to be Rockcliffe Air Force Base is presently under heavy development and will turn into a subdivision over time. Right now though, there's a ton of awesome places to ride and one way in and out of the area is the Col de Polaris.

the missing link

There are literally hundreds of Strava segments called the "missing link". This particular iteration is a half a kilometer of hydro road. It's basically hard packed grass tire tracks, and it breaks up the paved bike paths that abound in the area.
