Little League to the Link

This segment is meant to be an illustration of how to get from Hurdman up into the Hospital Link Road area without riding on pavement. It's pretty handy for getting into the Alta Vista corridor and beyond. It's a little over 900m of hidden greenspace that not many people seem to be aware of. 

When you are on Riverside just slightly south of the Cancer Survivors Park there is a steep embankment on the east side. This is where the segment starts. There's a bit of a worn foot path here but basically it feels a bit odd going up it because you need to come at the slope in an off-camber manner in order to get up it. Once at the top the path is far more obvious and you are on your way. 

From there you drop down into the apparently defunct Little League Canada greenspace.  The path will take you straight through to Dale Park. Once you are past the play structures you will take a right towards an opening in the trees that heads towards some apartment buildings and then a very quick left onto a utility road that runs parallel to the train tracks. The tracks are well fenced off at a safe distance and the utility road runs straight all the way to the Hospital Link Road. 

I used to live on Abbey Road which runs parallel all the way along this section and the backyards are fenced in and you aren't bothering anyone. There has always been a path along here and I used to run it a lot with no complaints. It used to be very wooded single track along here but it's recently been cleared out. In fact it used to extend all the way to Smyth. There are no signs anywhere along this route advising that this is private property. That said, I think it's one of those areas where it would be good to ensure we aren't disturbing homeowners along the segment so that it stays open for use. 

It pops out at the Link Road and from there you can cut across the intersection to get into the hydro road that runs all the way to Industrial or turn off into the Alta Vista/Elmvale Acres greenspace. ​
